This week held me finding and ordering hardware as well as working to acquire the necessary software I need which includes python and ROS. I met some interesting difficulties with getting ROS. My first tactic was to install the Ubuntu app on my Windows 10 device. I was successful in this and installed a ROS package. This worked and gave me limited access to ROS. I can run roscore and start the program and view my rostopics, both fundamental and necessary for the use of ROS, however I did not gain access to the catkin workspace and other fundamental tools in ROS. I then tried to install a VMware image, but met difficulties as my home internet was not good enough to let me download the image I needed. I plan on driving to Boston soon for a few reasons, one of the most important is having access Boston University internet so I can install the image I need. I also spent time researching basic movement patterns an the required kinematics to help me understand the motion. This was helpful but I'm still trying to understand the format and meaning of the matrices in important papers such as this one, and beyond that, how to implement this into simulations and software. As I'm waiting for materials in order to build, I believe understanding and contributing to software elements is going to be my momentary objective for this week and the near future.
